Every morning my husband scatters seeds for the birds and squirrels.

One day a white squirrel scampered down from his way-up-high nest to investigate.

Being cautious, most days he stayed on the wooden bench. Eventually his curiosity got the best of him and I saw him eating seeds on the cement bench.

He must have been watching from above because as soon as my husband would scatter the seeds the white squirrel would appear.

Here he is leaping from the cement pot on our patio.

Finally he felt comfortable enough to sit on the table and eat seeds from the birds’ seed container.

I love how he drapes his tail in the water dish.

Every day I watch for the white squirrel; his presence lifts my mood evoking a sense of wonder and positivity.

I consider myself lucky as I live in Hendersonville where there have been many sightings of white squirrels.

I love watching the white and brown squirrels frolicking in garden beds, zipping up tree trunks and back down again in their game of chase. Even though they are different in color they accept each other finding joy in their surroundings.

The sighting of a white squirrel is supposed to bring you good luck because they are rarely seen. It might be a hint that something exciting is coming your way.

Have you ever seen a white squirrel?

  1. I have. My youngest sister had a place in northern WI on a lake and they would have a white squirrel now and again. Here in OH, we just started seeing squirrels last year in our complex. I was told now that our trees have matured a bit, it brought the squirrels into our neighborhood. Once in a blue moon, we will see a deer as well in the back yard. I love seeing the wildlife; however, I do not appreciate the goffers and squirrels digging in my planters and nibbling on the flowers, but I guess they need to eat a play too. We can all survive together (: Enjoy your buddy – looks like you have made a new friend.
